The only thing better than fishing for Cod in short-sleeves...is catching Cod in short-sleeves!!! And catch we did...it was lock and load fishing from the first drift to the last and we left them biting. Had to travel a bit east but it was well worth the big fuel burn...all green, fat fish...stuffed with sand-eels. It was really an epic trip and one that I will not soon forget. Next few days look a bit nautical so Bob and I will catch-up on some overdue maintenance. We certainly plan to have the boat ready for the next weather window and our plans are to return to the exact crime scene we left today. No doubt the new mood tides helped out tremendously...but this is a big body of fish and I believe they are settling in for a big summer feed on millions of sand-eels that have moved into the area...as are the whales, giant tuna (6 taken this week alone up to 600#'s), dolphins, and birds of every variety out on the grounds....even a lowly starfish wanted in on the action today! Haven't seen the offshore grounds so alive in years as I have seen in the past few weeks...awesome!!! Next trips will be posted as soon as I see a weather window...standby...and don't miss out!!!
